Our first ever vegetable harvest - baby pak choi! It's been a long journey that led to this place... I struggled with weight in my teenage years, counting calories and exercising obsessively. I read lots of health magazines which made me more conscious of not just calories but the nutrients in each calorie. Later on, I learned about the industrialization of our food chain, and it prompted me to buy Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma" (the same amazing author that the Netflix show COOKED is written by!). I then discovered Michael Pollan's many other books, all equally thought-provoking and scientific and packed full of research, while being eloquent and poetic and wonderfully reflective at the same time. My favorite is still "Second Nature", a book which taught me many lessons on life, gardening, patience, and commitment - even though I had never gardened. Being able to finally have a garden and make my very first harvest is a result of the inspiration from that book! 🌱🍃🌻🌼❤ "The accomplished gardeners I know are surprisingly comfortable with failure. They may not be happy about it, but instead of reacting with anger or frustration, they seem freshly intrigued by the peony that, after years of being taken for granted, suddenly fails to bloom.
